After the passing of Sneaky-SOB- in 2012, the group really went its separate ways—he was the glue that held us together. Over the years, we gradually lost touch, each of us getting caught up in work and life. Gaming has always been a distraction from reality, but for many of us, it was more than that—it was our only social outlet. We were brothers and sisters in a gaming world that only other gamers could truly understand.
I first met Sneaky on a map where he and Nasty were trying to learn the terrain, focusing on fair and effective tactics. Meanwhile, I preferred charging straight into the action with a blade or shotgun. Sneaky gave me the name “Sudden,” and from that moment, our friendship was set.
He understood the Army and the struggles I faced transitioning from military to civilian life. It was a challenge—marriage, divorce, marriage again, and the relentless demands of life. Time passed, and eventually, I learned about Sneaky’s health issues and, later, his passing. Saddened by the news, I bought his book and finally read it.
This squad lives on because John understands what Sneaky knew—that we need each other. Gaming is just the surface; beneath it, we are battle buddies, always there to support one another. John knew this, just as we all did—that’s why he reached out, and it’s why we still do.
