EA and Dice delay Bad Company 2 PC beta Score: Comment Printer Friendly Send to a Friend Save as PDF

Elecontronic Arts and Dice Studios have officially postponed the PC beta of Battlefield: Bad Company 2 until early 2010.

EA spokesperson Gordon Van Dyke explained that the beta had been delayed to provide the studio with more "planning time" for the implementation of "optimizations."

In addition, the delay will allow Dice to ensure the participation of a maximum number of testers in the BFBC2 PC beta program.

Windows 7 to be Score: Comment Printer Friendly Send to a Friend Save as PDF

kenny writes "Microsoft is effectively giving away Windows 7 free for a year with the launch of the Release Candidate. The Release Candidate is now available to MSDN and TechNet subscribers, and will go on unlimited, general release on 5 May. The software will not expire until 1 June 2010, giving testers more than a year's free access to Windows 7. "It's available to as many people who see fit to use it, although we wouldn't recommend it to just your average user," John Curran, director of the Windows Client Group told PC Pro. "We'd very strongly encourage anyone on the beta to move to the Release Candidate." However, Microsoft has previously urged the millions of beta testers to start from scratch, and not simply upgrade the beta, in a bid to replicate the real-world experience of installing Windows 7. Those who are determined not to undergo a fresh install have to follow a workaround published on the < ADVERTISEMENT Engineering Windows 7 blog. The Release Candidate includes all the features that will be available in the final version. "The Release Candidate is the near-finished product," Curran said. "It's now just final regression testing and performance enhancements." Microsoft refused to be drawn on the final release date of Windows 7, sticking to the company line that it will be ready by January 2010, although most observers are predicting a late summer/autumn 2009 launch. However, Curran believes that Windows 7 has already lifted much of the negativity that surrounded its predecessor. "The positive energy and momentum is quite a bit higher than it was in the Vista timeframe," Curran conceded. "People are excited about Windows 7.""

Delta Force:Angel Falls Score: Comment Printer Friendly Send to a Friend Save as PDF

BigGreeN writes "Release date not set. 2009 ship date is all we know.
Description
In the near future, set in the north-west region of Central America and spanning both Colombia and Venezuela, “Delta Force: Angel Falls” presents the rural, sparsely populated areas of this exotic locale. The South American environment provides a premise which is naturally beautiful and full of new millennium conflicts.
Marginal governments, involved in local expansionism, continually scuffle with one another and with major global powers. Complicating matters, drug cartels have evolved beyond money to political forces rivaling established governments. Influenced by current events, the game is both topical and novel.

Format your hard drive, as usual. Boot up the computer with Windows Vista in the CD-ROM drive and install as you would XP. Then you will be prompted to put in any window CD disc from XP. All the way down to Windows 95. When the computer sees that you have a Microsoft Windows disc. You will be prompted to remove it from the CD-ROM drive, and then you will install. Windows Vista, full version.

If you are using your computer for gaming. You do not need all the extras that come with Windows Vista Home edition. You will have essentially the same thing you have with windows XP.

Raptor5ix writes "Due to some last minute changes the release of the 1.4 patch has been delayed.

We do not anticipate this delay being a lengthy one, however we do not have a fixed date for release at this time.

We will update you as soon as there is further information.

Apologies to those who were expecting the patch today, however in order for this patch to succeed in the way it is intended a little extra time is being taken to ensure it is right.

BF2: Possible New Patch on the way Score: More about Printer Friendly Send to a Friend Save as PDF

From: www.action-inside.com

Well there have been many rumors circulating the net over the past few days about a new patch in the works. Based on what EA had already told us after the release of the 1.3 patch, it was probably assumed that a new patch would be in production. The new rumors about the patch also have it including a new map for BF2 titled "Road To Jalalabad." The players within these test servers running this new map all have names such as "BFTest." The game versions on these test servers are also listed as "1.1.2887-719.0," where as the current 1.3 patch is listed as "1.1.2878-710.0." Even more interestingly noted is the chance a new game mode may be in the works. This rumor spawns from the fact that in these test servers there's an option that states "bf2_infantryonly." Below are links to the two servers from which all the rumors come.
